Description

History and background

The Jaguar E-type was introduced in 1961 as a successor to Jaguar's sports car segment and quickly became one of the best-known British sports cars of its time. The model combined streamlined bodywork with technology that was advanced for the period. During the course of production, the E-type underwent several changes, with the later Series III clearly distinguished by the arrival of the V12 engine and wider positioning within the range.

The Jaguar E-type Series III V12 appeared in 1971 and became the last and most technically advanced version of the E-type series. The 5.3-liter V12 was designed to offer more smoothness and capacity than the earlier six-in-line engines. In addition, the Series III received a longer wheelbase and wider body, especially in the open two-seat version, which distinguished the car visually and technically from earlier versions. Production of the Series III remained relatively limited compared to the total E-type run, making this version a recognizable final stage within model history.

A Jaguar E-type Series III V12 from June 1974 is among the model's final builds. At the time, the E-type was now known as an established classic, while Jaguar was transitioning to a more luxurious and comfortable character with the V12. The combination of British sports car history and the latest generation of an iconic model gives this version a clear place within Jaguar's development in the 1970s.

Characteristics and features

This Jaguar E-type Series III V12 is finished in red and equipped with air conditioning and power steering. The combination of this equipment and the V12 drivetrain suits the character of the Series III, which placed more emphasis on ease of use and driving comfort compared to earlier E-type generations. The car has an odometer reading of 52,164 km and runs on gasoline. The declared power is 200 kW.

The Jaguar E-type Series III V12 has been perfectly restored, very well maintained and is in beautiful condition. The car features a new convertible top. These features match the Series III's positioning as the last and most technically developed variant within the E-type line. The combination of the V12 engine, open body and the aforementioned equipment gives this example a recognizable place within Jaguar E-type versions.

Summary

The June 1974 Jaguar E-type Series III V12 represents the last generation of an important model in British sports car history. With its 5.3-liter V12, listed equipment, red color and well-kept presentation, this is a late and recognizable model within the E-type series.
