History and background
The BMW 323i E36 Coupe belongs to the third generation of the 3 Series, a model series introduced in 1990 that occupied an important position within BMW's mid-range segment during the 1990s. The E36 represented a further refinement of the concept of the compact rear-wheel-drive sports coupe, with a more modern body, improved aerodynamics and a chassis tuned for both comfort and dynamics. The coupe appeared as a two-door variant alongside the sedan and was later followed by the convertible and compact, among others.
The BMW 323i E36 Coupe was positioned as a six-cylinder model within the range in the second half of its production years, below the heavier 328i and above the four-cylinder versions. For many buyers, the 323i in particular offered a balanced combination of performance, trim level and utility value. In 1998, the E36 was at the end of its life cycle, while its successor E46 was already on the way. Late examples from this period can therefore be recognized by the facelifted version with altered lighting and detail modifications.
Within the collector and enthusiast market, the coupe in particular has gained a foothold, in part because many examples have been used in regular use and not all have been preserved. An original Belgian car, such as this BMW 323i E36 Coupe, with demonstrably low mileage, first paint on most of the bodywork, dealer maintenance, original purchase receipt and an early ownership history, joins the rarer and better documented versions within this type. The car is not currently presented at the museum and mileage may increase.
Characteristics and Details
This BMW 323i E36 Coupe is executed in the style of a Clubsport, with a complete M-package consisting of front bumper, lower lip, sideskirts, rear bumper with diffuser, thick door moldings, M exterior mirrors and an M-spoiler on the trunk lid. The door moldings feature M-Clubsport logos. Also present are an RET muffler, yellow headlights and yellow fog lights. The car has a restored original M-Motorsport wide-set with new tires.
The interior of this BMW 323i E36 Coupe has been modified with Recaro Pole Position seats on original Recaro seat frames, reupholstered with leather and alcantara. The door panels have also been finished with alcantara, and the rear seat has been removed in favor of an alcantara-covered blind plate. Also present are an OMP steering wheel in alcantara, a Wiechers roll cage, an RTD shifter and 5-point seat belts. In the center console is carbon trim with a VDO Gauge panel with oil pressure gauge, oil temperature gauge and voltmeter. The suspension features a KW coilover kit, while the engine is equipped with a cold air intake and a different intake manifold. Different rims and semislicks have also been fitted for track use.
The car has a Dutch license plate. Given the changes and modifications made, it is advised to verify beforehand whether registration of the vehicle is possible in the destination country if the car is exported abroad.
Summary
This BMW 323i E36 Coupe combines a late-built, well-documented E36 base with an extended Clubsport version and various circuit-oriented modifications. The car came to the Netherlands in 2024, has a Dutch license plate and has a mileage of 75,329 kilometers. To get a good impression of the lot we advise you to come to the viewing day.
