Description

History and background

The Audi R8 was introduced in 2007 and is considered Audi's first true supercar. With it, Audi distanced itself from the image of mostly solid and technically advanced passenger cars and established a mid-engine sports car to compete in the highest segment. The Audi R8 4.2 V8 FSI R-Tronic Pro+ made use of the familiar 4.2-liter V8 from the sporty Audi lineup, including the RS4, but in the R8, this engine was given a different position and character within a completely newly developed platform.

The design of the Audi R8 was technically distinctive within the brand's offerings. The aluminum space frame, mid-engine and quattro drive were the basis of a car that focused not only on performance, but also on stability and balance. The engine is visible from the outside through the glass hood, a detail that emphasizes the technical placement of the power source. In the market, the Audi R8 positioned itself as a relatively serviceable supercar, with performance that brought it close to established names in the segment.

This Audi R8 Quattro was delivered new in Belgium in February 2008. The car then had two Belgian owners, before ending up in a collection at an Audi dealer in April 2013 and being sold again in April 2016. The Audi R8 has been registered in the Netherlands since May 29, 2018.


Characteristics and details

The Audi R8 4.2 V8 FSI R-Tronic Pro+ is equipped with a six-speed automated transmission, controlled with steering flippers. The model thus combines the mechanical basis of a manual transmission with the operation of an automatic. In 2016, the gearbox was replaced due to a defect. It is known that two shock absorbers show slight traces of sweating. In addition, the magnetic ride system deserves attention and is advised to have it checked further. These points are part of the known points of attention of the car.
