Specifications
[description]

This 1973 Citroën DS 20 F Ambulance is a rare and characterful appearance. Originally modified by the famous coachbuilder Currus, this "Rehaussée" DS shows itself as a true witness to French history. At the time, the DS 20 Ambulance was developed with functionality, space and comfort in mind, with the iconic hydropneumatic suspension guaranteeing a smooth and comfortable ride for both driver and passengers. This example is a "second period" ambulance version, converted at the time by Currus and fitted with distinctive details and additional seating space.

Exceptional and Authentic Design - Currus Converted to Seven-Seater

The bodywork of this DS 20 Ambulance is fitted with a raised roof, which means "Rehaussée" in French, and provides the extra headroom that was essential for medical applications. Currus, the coachbuilder who originally converted the ambulance, specialized in functional vehicle modifications and fitted this ambulance with an additional bench seat in the rear, allowing it to function as a seven-seater. The last owner, a German physician, cherished the ambulance in his collection, making the vehicle even more unique.

Excellent Preserved Condition and Original Details

The DS Ambulance is in well-preserved and original condition. Both the paint and interior have stood the years well and give an honest appearance of a vehicle that has been handled with care. The interior is still largely original and evokes an atmosphere of past medical uses. The characteristic simplicity and spaciousness of the interior make it a true piece of history. Details such as the original control panels and the extra rear bench seat in the cargo area emphasize the versatility of this DS.

Comfortable Ride and Unique Hydropneumatic Suspension

The Citroën DS is known for its revolutionary hydropneumatic suspension, which at the time was a true breakthrough in ride comfort. This system ensures that the ambulance still rides smoothly regardless of the load or surface. The DS 20 features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which ensures reliable performance and enhances driving pleasure. The driving comfort of the DS makes this ambulance ideal for long trips and offers a historic experience typical of classic Citroëns.

An Exceptional Collector's Item for the Citroën Enthusiast

For lovers of classic Citroëns and collectibles, this DS 20 F Ambulance offers a unique opportunity to get your hands on a piece of French automotive history. Its original modifications by Currus and its well-preserved condition make this a special object with a rich background. This ambulance is not only an impressive museum piece, but also a functional vehicle that still exudes its original French charm.
