Alpino, founded by Pietro Trespidi, began producing motorcycles in 1944 in Lombardy, Italy. Trespidi marketed a range of ultralight two-strokes, ranging from 48cc mopeds to 98cc motorcycles. In 1951, Alpino introduced the first 125cc motorcycle, an extension of their earlier 98cc model. With speed in its blood, Alpino set several world speed records in the 50cc and 75cc classes in 1952. In the following years, Alpino expanded the line to include scooters and models up to 175cc, before production ceased in 1962 due to changing market conditions.
