Very original condition This 1961 Volkswagen T1 is an absolute find for the true collector. With remarkably low mileage of only 13,551 kilometers, this example is a unique piece of history. The T1 was commissioned on January 11, 1961 by the fire department of Wiesau, a small village in northern Bavaria, close to the Czech border. The original registration number "SEL D 902" and the detailed logbook that kept track of all maintenance and trips illustrate the care and attention with which this bus was maintained.
Excellently preserved
During 50 years of service for the fire department, this T1 was regularly used for exercises, but covered only 13,428 kilometers. Fire trucks are known for their excellent maintenance, and this Volkswagen is no exception. The car is in near-new condition both optically and technically. The bodywork is completely original, with tight sheet metal and perfect fits. Light user marks are barely visible, and although the paint is largely original, the front of the bus was once lightly repainted for cosmetic reasons.
Splendid simplicity
The interior of this T1 exudes simplicity and functionality. Although it appears spartan by modern standards, the minimalist design is timeless and beautifully preserved. Under the hood is a 1.2-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that produces 34 horsepower, mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The engine runs smoothly and the transmission feels like new.
