Description

This Ford Mustang is in a neat and driving condition. The car was restored some time ago and both the interior and exterior generally look good. The car is exempt from road tax and MOT. Among other things, it has the well-known 289 engine, an automatic transmission and power steering. This is an A Code: The A and C Code engines were the standard V8 option on early Mustangs, both displacing 289 cubic inches. The two 4.7-litre engines are distinguished mainly by their carburettors. The A Code engine had a four-barrel carburetor, while the C Code had a two-barrel unit. However, there are also internal differences, starting with the design of the piston. The A Code engines had flat pistons, giving it a compression ratio of 10:1 compared to the C Code's 9.3:1 compression ratio derived from the dished pistons. The result was a 25 horsepower difference, with the A code making 225 versus the C code 200, with the C code dropping to 195 horsepower in 1968.
