History and Background
The Nissan Murano 3.5 V6 debuted in 2002 as one of Nissan’s first crossovers specifically designed for the North American market. The model was developed on the FF-L platform, which was also used for the Nissan Altima and Maxima, among others. With this, Nissan opted for a design that combined the comfort and driving characteristics of a passenger car with the higher seating position and practical shape of an SUV. The Nissan Murano 3.5 V6 occupied a unique position within the brand because the model was not aimed at traditional off-road use, but rather at a more luxurious and road-oriented interpretation of the SUV segment.
The first-generation Nissan Murano remained in production until 2007 and was a relatively rare sight in Europe compared to the larger markets for which the model was primarily developed. The combination of the VQ35DE six-cylinder engine and the unconventional, rounded body design gave the Nissan Murano a distinct place within Nissan’s lineup. In the Netherlands, the model was delivered in limited numbers, making examples with Dutch registration less common than in the countries where the Murano was originally more widely distributed.
This example was built in 2006 and has been registered in the Netherlands since 2009, after being imported from Germany. This places the Nissan Murano 3.5 V6 in the later phase of the first generation, which had largely taken shape technically and visually in 2006 and 2007.
Features and details
The Nissan Murano 3.5 V6 is equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 from Nissan’s well-known VQ engine family. This engine series is considered a key part of the brand’s modern history and was used in a wide range of models due to its combination of a compact design, smooth power delivery, and versatility. In the Murano, this engine was paired with a continuously variable transmission, which suited the model’s comfort-oriented character. The first-generation Murano also featured a monocoque body, with which Nissan clearly aligned itself with the then-emerging crossover concept.
For this Nissan Murano 3.5 V6, the engine was replaced with a reconditioned engine in 2022. The cost for this was €5,300. Subsequently, approximately €3,000 worth of maintenance was performed, for which invoices are available. This forms a fixed part of the car’s recent history and is relevant to the documentation of this specific vehicle.
The car has some signs of wear and tear on both the interior and exterior. This is consistent with the usage history of a car from this production period and is a feature that is visibly present in the assessment of the lot.
Summary
The Nissan Murano 3.5 V6 combines the distinctive first generation of Nissan’s crossover with a 3.5-liter V6 and a recent engine replacement in 2022, supplemented by maintenance invoices and Dutch registration since 2009. The car shows some signs of wear on the interior and exterior. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend that you attend the viewing day.
