History and Background
The Jaguar S-Type was introduced in 1998 as a mid-size luxury sedan that deliberately drew on classic Jaguar design elements. The model featured a design with references to the S-Type from the 1960s, combined with a modern technical platform. With this, Jaguar positioned the S-Type as an alternative in the executive sedan segment, with an emphasis on comfort and traditional brand image.
The Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 Sport was part of the later phase of the model series, during which the lineup was expanded to include several six-cylinder and eight-cylinder variants. During that period, the 3.0 V6 was a widely used engine within the S-Type lineup and met the demand for a combination of smooth driving characteristics and adequate performance. The Sport version was among the more dynamic variants in the lineup. By the 2006 model year, the S-Type was nearing the end of its production run, which concluded in 2007 when it was succeeded by the Jaguar XF.
Within Jaguar’s lineup in the early 2000s, the S-Type held a distinctive place. The model was less emphatically modern in design than many of its German competitors, but it was precisely this that set it apart within the segment. The 2006 Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 Sport fits into that lineage as a model that combined classic brand identity with a more contemporary powertrain.
Features and Highlights
The 2006 Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 Sport is equipped with the 3.0 V6 engine, a variant known within the S-Type range for its linear character. The Sport variant is recognizable as a model with a more driver-oriented positioning within the model range. Within the S-Type family, the various trim and engine variants formed a clearly structured lineup, with the 3.0 V6 occupying a middle ground between the entry-level models and the more powerful versions.
Two keys are included with this example. This is a specific feature of the lot and is part of the actual configuration of the Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 Sport as offered here.
Technically, the S-Type was built on a rear-wheel-drive platform with a conventional sedan body, in keeping with the segment in which Jaguar operated at the time. The car was developed during a period when Jaguar was under Ford ownership, which was evident in the further development of the technology and the production approach. The S-Type remained clearly recognizable as a Jaguar, partly due to the combination of classic proportions, a refined body line, and a wide range of engines.
Summary
The 2006 Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 Sport represents the later phase of a model series that combined classic Jaguar design with a more modern technical foundation. This example comes with two keys and is part of the line of six-cylinder models with which the S-Type was positioned in the luxury sedan segment.
