Description

History and background

The Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE belongs to the second generation Range Rover, known internally as the P38A, which was introduced in 1994 as the successor to the classic Range Rover. The model remained true to the premise of a luxury off-road vehicle with full off-road capabilities, but received a more modern chassis, greater comfort and a stronger emphasis on refinement. In doing so, the 4.6-liter V8 formed one of the most powerful gasoline variants in the lineup and came in the higher trim levels, including the HSE.

The 2000 Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE falls within the final production years of the P38A. During this period, the combination of air suspension, permanent all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission characterized the model. The Range Rover from this generation was known as a car that combined luxury and convenience with Land Rover's traditional off-road vehicle architecture. Within model history, the P38A holds a special place, as it marks the transition to a more electronically oriented generation of Range Rover.

The Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE was delivered in a market segment in which the model positioned itself between premium passenger car and off-road vehicle. In doing so, it played a role in the development of the luxury SUV segment long before that term became common. The combination of a V8 gasoline engine, automatic transmission, and a richer HSE trim made the Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE a trim specifically geared toward comfort and status within the lineup.

Characteristics and Details

This Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE is an automatic and was fitted with a remanufactured transmission and intermediate transmission in 2025. Included are booklets with several stamps of maintenance as well as several invoices and two keys. The car is drivable and handles excellent. The engine is also excellent. Maintenance was performed at LR specialist Brooklyn Spares, which fits the character of this model, which in practice regularly requires specialist attention due to the more complex technique.

The car has the registration number NT-122-G. The interior has been completely updated, including an alcantara headliner and Holland & Holland accents. That version is in keeping with the Range Rover's more luxurious positioning during this period, in which the brand is also emphatic about finish and interior details in addition to its off-road vehicle origins. As such, the Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE combines the classic P38A architecture with a high-end trimmed cabin.

Further points of interest are present, including a scratch on the liner of the rear door, a small leak on the upper left side of the windshield and a small o-ring leak that has been previously repaired. In addition, the air compressor is stuck, the blend motors for the heater air distribution are fixed or defective, and there is an electrical failure in the locks. Such points fit within the technical complexity characteristic of the Range Rover from this generation.

Summary

The 2000 Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE is a specimen of the P38A generation with automatic transmission, service history, two keys, and a 2025 rebuilt transmission and intermediate transmission. The interior has been completely redone and the car is drivable. To get a good idea of the lot we recommend you come to the viewing day.
