Description

History and background

The Land Rover Range Rover was introduced in 1970 as a model that combined off-road capability with comfort at a level not common within the luxury off-road vehicle segment at that time. The first generation, later often referred to as Range Rover Classic, remained in production until 1996 and developed into an important model within the Land Rover range during those years. The 1986 Land Rover Range Rover 3.5 V8i Vogue belongs to that early generation and represents the period when the model was already firmly established in the market.

The Vogue trim appeared in the 1980s as a more luxurious variant within the Range Rover range and took a distinct position there as a top trim. The combination of the Rover V8 with automatic transmission met the demand for a more refined version of a vehicle originally developed from functionality. The Land Rover Range Rover 3.5 V8i Vogue was delivered new in 1986 by the official Land Rover dealer, Utrechts Auto Bedrijf in Utrecht. Since then, the car has had three owners.

In the history of the Range Rover Classic, the 3.5 V8 occupies a central place. This engine family was closely intertwined with the development of the model and gave the Range Rover a character very different from many other off-road vehicles of the time. The Vogue version was chosen by buyers who valued not only the technical basis of the Range Rover, but also a more complete version within the range offered at the time.

Characteristics and features

This Land Rover Range Rover 3.5 V8i Vogue is finished as a five-door and has the 3.5-liter Rover V8 gasoline engine with an output of approximately 163 horsepower. The car is equipped with an automatic transmission. As the first generation Range Rover, this model belongs to the early versions in which the original lines and functional design of the model have remained fully recognizable.

The car is completely in original condition and still carries the first paint. The hat shelf is also original. Furthermore, two sets of keys are present, one of which was left behind and the other photographed. The original instruction booklet with service booklet is located in the distinctive yellow Land Rover bag in the car. In addition, a record of maintenance from 2011 is present, from the time the Range Rover came into possession in that year.

For the Land Rover Range Rover 3.5 V8i Vogue, the combination of original preservation and documented history is characteristic. Within the early Range Rover generation, examples with demonstrable continuity of use and preservation of factory details are a recognizable part of model history. The Vogue version thereby positions itself as a more luxurious version within the first generation, with a place in the development of the Range Rover from utilitarian off-road vehicle to more broadly oriented luxury car.

Summary

The 1986 Land Rover Range Rover 3.5 V8i Vogue represents the first generation Range Rover with the 3.5-liter Rover V8 and automatic transmission, in Vogue trim and with a known history of three owners. The car is completely original, wears first paint and comes with service documentation and accessories. To get a good idea of the lot we recommend you come to the viewing day.
