Description

History and background

The Porsche 911 T 3.0 Ölklappe belongs to the early generation of the 911 series and falls within the period in which Porsche further developed the originally air-cooled six-cylinder. The year 1972 is a notable production period in this regard, as Porsche made several technical changes in that year. The body version with the characteristic oil-filling cap in the right front screen earned the nickname Ölklappe, a detail that has become a landmark especially on early 911s.

The designation 911 T refers to the entry-level version within the range of those years, where the emphasis was on lighter equipment and a more austere positioning compared to the S and E versions. In practice, the 911 T was often chosen in the early years as the basis for further technical and visual development. The Porsche 911 T 3.0 Ölklappe combines that early 911 identity with a later technical and optical interpretation, giving the model a place in the market between originally preserved examples and period-correctly modified cars.

In the case of this example, the car has been completely converted to 2.7 RS Style by a Belgian owner. Thus, the presentation joins one of the best-known variants in 911 history, namely the 911 Carrera RS 2.7, a model that had great international influence on the further development of sporty Porsche versions. The Porsche 911 T 3.0 Ölklappe thus represents a car with a clear historical basis and a later stylistic direction that refers to one of the most recognizable icons of the brand's past.

Characteristics and special features

The Porsche 911 T 3.0 Ölklappe is technically equipped with an electronically controlled injection system, which replaces the previously present carburetors. In addition, engine and gearbox have been overhauled, with the gearbox being equipped with short shift. More than € 61,000 was spent on the car to achieve this technical configuration. Invoices of this work are present. Most work was carried out around a mileage of 37,000 to 39,000 kilometers.

The car was serviced at 48,500 kilometers at Porsche specialist Rennsport. New Michelin sports tires were also recently installed. Furthermore, the Porsche 911 T 3.0 Ölklappe is equipped with air conditioning. The combination of the 2.7 RS Style, the technical overhaul work and the modifications made gives this Porsche 911 T 3.0 Ölklappe a clear own version within the early 911 generation.

Summary

The 1972 Porsche 911 T 3.0 Ölklappe is an early 911 with a presentation converted to 2.7 RS Style, an electronically controlled injection system, overhauled engine and gearbox with short shift, air conditioning and recent maintenance and tires.
