Description

The 1969 Peugeot 404 Break is the station wagon version of the Peugeot 404, a model introduced in 1960 that grew into one of the French brand's most important models of the 1960s and 1970s. The design of the 404 came from Pininfarina, visible in the clean lines and understated styling characteristic of this period. The Break variant was produced from 1962 as a practical extension of the sedan and found its way to both private and business users.

The 1969 Peugeot 404 Break was distinguished by its extended body and spacious cargo area, responding to the growing demand for multi-purpose vehicles. The 404 series was produced worldwide, including in France and several other countries, reaching a total production of more than 2.8 million units across all versions. This places the 404 among Peugeot's commercially successful models of the twentieth century.

Technically, the 1969 Peugeot 404 Break was based on a conventional but solid body with front engine and rear-wheel drive. The suspension and suspension were tuned for comfort and ease of use, befitting the character of a spacious family and commercial car. In several markets, the 404 was known for its wide applicability, in part due to the combination of robust construction and practical body styles such as the Break, Commerciale and pickup.

With its 1969 year of manufacture, this 1969 Peugeot 404 Break represents a version from the later production years of the model, at a time when Peugeot had further developed the design and technology. The combination of Italian design and French engineering made the 404 a recognizable presence within the segment of midsize cars and station wagons of the 1960s.
