Description

The 1967 MG B GT is the closed 2+2 variant of the MGB, introduced in 1965 to complement the open roadster. The design of the fastback body came about in collaboration with Pininfarina and was distinguished by a fold-down tailgate, which was a practical solution within the compact sports car segment at the time. The 1967 MG B GT thus combined the sporty character of the MGB with added convenience and a fixed roof.

The MGB series was produced from 1962 to 1980 and became one of the best-selling British sports cars. About 125,000 units in total were built of the GT version. The 1967 MG B GT belongs to the early production years, characterized by its classic chrome grille and sleek bodywork without later safety modifications introduced in the 1970s. The body was built according to a self-supporting construction, which was modern for a sports car in this class at the time.

Technically, the 1967 MG B GT was based on the familiar platform of the MGB, with independent front suspension and a rigid rear axle with leaf springs. The car came with a four-cylinder inline 1.8-liter engine mated to a manual transmission. This configuration was known for its balanced handling and broad usability, making the GT version suitable for both daily use and longer trips.

The combination of British sports car tradition and Italian design gave the 1967 MG B GT a recognizable position within the classic sports car segment. The model remained largely true to its original concept throughout its production period, which contributed to the consistent appearance and recognizability of the 1967 MG B GT.
