Description

The 1998 Jaguar XJ8 3.2 Executive belongs to the X308 generation of the Jaguar XJ series, which was produced from 1997 to 2003. With this generation, Jaguar introduced the new AJ-V8 engines, saying goodbye to the six-cylinder and 12-cylinder engines of the previous X300 series. The 1998 Jaguar XJ8 3.2 Executive combines the classic XJ design with round headlights and a recognizable grille with more modern technology and an updated interior concept.

Since its introduction in 1968, the Jaguar XJ line has been known as the brand's flagship. The X308 series built on this heritage while retaining characteristic proportions and aluminum engine technology that was new to Jaguar at the time. The 3.2-liter version was positioned within the range as a balanced variant within the range of V8 models in Europe. The Executive trim focused on comfort and functionality within the luxury sedan segment.

The equipment of this 1998 Jaguar XJ8 3.2 Executive includes a driver and passenger airbag, automatic air conditioning and a radio/cassette system. It also features front and rear power windows, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), a trip computer and an electronic immobilizer. These features reflect the level of equipment that was common in the upper segment in the late 1990s.

The 1998 Jaguar XJ8 3.2 Executive was produced at a time when Jaguar was operating under Ford ownership, leading to investment in production technology and quality processes. The X308 series remained true to the traditional concept of a rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan with an emphasis on comfort and representativeness. This model occupied a distinct place within Jaguar history as a bridge between classically styled XJ models and the later, more distinctly updated generations.
