Description

The 2006 Jaguar XJ6 D 2.7 belongs to the third generation of the modern XJ series, known internally as the X350 series, introduced in 2003. With this generation, Jaguar returned to a more classic-looking design, combined with an all-aluminum body and chassis. This lightweight construction was distinctive within the segment at the time and was used to reduce weight and increase structural rigidity. The 2006 Jaguar XJ6 D 2.7 was produced at a time when Jaguar was part of Ford's Premier Automotive Group.

The 2.7 D designation refers to the 2.7-liter V6 diesel engine developed in collaboration with PSA Peugeot Citroën and Ford. This power source was used in several models within the group and was known for its wide applicability within the upper segment. With the introduction of this diesel variant, Jaguar was responding to the growing demand for more efficient powertrains in the luxury class, especially in the European market. The 2006 Jaguar XJ6 D 2.7 combines this motorization with the XJ's traditional positioning as a representative sedan.

Within the model line, the XJ6 D 2.7 occupied an important place as an alternative to the gasoline variants. The X350 generation remained in production until 2009, after which a completely redesigned XJ followed with a different design language. The 2006 Jaguar XJ6 D 2.7 is thus part of the last XJ generation in which the distinctive, classically inspired styling remained clearly recognizable. This model was built at Jaguar's production facility in Castle Bromwich, United Kingdom.

The 2006 Jaguar XJ6 D 2.7 positioned itself at the upper end of the business market and came as a four-door sedan with an emphasis on comfort and long-distance use. The model distinguished itself in its time through the combination of traditional Jaguar elements and modern construction technology. Within the ongoing development of the XJ series, this version marks a phase in which efficiency and weight saving received more emphatic attention, without relinquishing the familiar concept of the XJ.
