Description

The 1974 Daf 66 Combi is a model from the last development phase of DAF as an independent Dutch automobile manufacturer. The DAF 66 was introduced in 1972 as the successor to the DAF 55 and remained in production until 1975. A total of about 146,000 units of the DAF 66 series were built, including the Combi version. The 1974 Daf 66 Combi concerns the practical station wagon variant within this series and was positioned as a compact family car with an emphasis on functionality.

A characteristic feature of the 1974 Daf 66 Combi is the use of the Variomatic transmission system with continuously variable transmission developed by DAF. This system, which uses belts and conical discs, technically distinguished the brand from many other European manufacturers in the compact segment. The rear-wheel drive combined with this transmission was relatively special in this class and contributed to the recognizable technical design of the model.

The design of the 1974 Daf 66 Combi is functional and characterized by straight lines and a compact body with a spacious rear end. The Combi version offered additional cargo space compared to the sedan version, which made the model suitable for a variety of uses. In 1975 the passenger car branch of DAF was taken over by Volvo, after which the DAF 66 continued to be produced in modified form as the Volvo 66, underlining the historical position of the 1974 Daf 66 Combi within the transition period.

The 1974 Daf 66 Combi is offered as a 1974 vehicle. Further specific details are not given. To get a good idea of the lot we recommend coming to the viewing day.
