Description

The 2001 Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 TS belongs to the first generation of the Alfa Romeo 156, a model introduced in 1997 and produced until 2005. With this model, Alfa Romeo took an important step into the mid-range segment, with the design deviating from the then common lines in the class. The design, from Alfa Romeo Centro Stile led by Walter de Silva, is characterized by the hidden rear door handles and the characteristic grille combined with narrow headlights. The Alfa Romeo 156 received the title European Car of the Year in 1998.

The 2.0 TS version of the Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 TS 2001 is equipped with the Twin Spark engine, an engine concept adopted by Alfa Romeo to combine efficient combustion with lively power delivery. The Twin Spark principle, with two spark plugs per cylinder, had been used by the marque previously and is a recognizable technical feature within the model range of the period. In the Alfa Romeo 156, this engine was combined with front-wheel drive and a manual or optional transmission, depending on the version.

In the model range, the Alfa Romeo 156 occupied an important position as the successor to the Alfa Romeo 155. The model came in several engine variants and body styles, including later the Sportwagon. The 156 was known for its independent suspension all around, which helped position the model within the sport-oriented segment at the time. Several updates and facelifts have been made over the years, with the model retaining its distinctive lines.

The Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 TS 2001 is offered as a version from the 2001 model year, a period when the model was already firmly established in the European D-segment. The combination of Italian design, the Twin Spark engine concept and distinctive styling make this model a recognizable representative of Alfa Romeo from the early 2000s. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
