The 1967 Morris Minor 1000 Tourer Convertible is part of the Morris Minor series that was introduced in 1948 and became one of the most produced British models of its time. The design came about under the direction of Alec Issigonis, who later became famous for developing the Mini. At its introduction, the Morris Minor was distinguished by its modern self-supporting body and independent front suspension. A total of more than 1.6 million examples of the Morris Minor were built, giving the model a firm place in British automobile history.
The Morris Minor 1000 was delivered from 1956 and, compared to earlier versions, received a larger A-series engine. The Tourer Convertible was the open four-seat variant within the range and retained the distinctive lines with freestanding headlights and a classically styled grille. By 1967, the Morris Minor 1000 Tourer Convertible was in the later production phase of the model, which eventually remained in production until 1969.
Within the range of classic British convertibles, the 1967 Morris Minor 1000 Tourer Convertible occupied a recognizable position. The combination of an open body with the technical basis of the Minor 1000 provided a wide audience both in the United Kingdom and in export markets. The construction with reinforcements in the body distinguished the Tourer from the closed variants, while the overall design remained true to the original 1948 concept.
This 1967 Morris Minor 1000 Tourer Convertible is a version from the penultimate year of production of the series. The model is regularly offered within the classic segment today, in part due to its lengthy production period and wide distribution worldwide.
