Description

The Glas Goggomobil T300 1963 is a compact passenger car from the Reconstruction period, produced by Hans Glas GmbH in Dingolfing, Germany. The Glas brand began as a manufacturer of agricultural machinery and made the switch to light motorized vehicles in the 1950s. The Goggomobil was introduced in 1955 and became the brand's best-known model. The T series, of which the T300 is a part, remained in production until 1969. About 214,000 units of all variants combined were built.

The 1963 Glass Goggomobil T300 is among the larger engine variants within the T series. The model is equipped with a rear-mounted two-cylinder two-stroke engine with a displacement of 300 cc. The car features a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. Characteristic features of the Goggomobil are its compact dimensions, self-supporting body and simple, functional construction, which at the time met the demand for affordable mobility in Europe.

In the 1950s and 1960s, the Glas Goggomobil T300 1963 responded to the growing need for individual transportation. The model was not only sold in Germany, but also exported to several other markets. Local assembly even took place in some countries. The Goggomobil came in several body styles within the T series, including a sedan and a coupe, which enabled the brand to reach a wide audience within the light passenger car segment.

The Glas Goggomobil T300 1963 represents a phase in the development of the German automobile industry in which compact and technically simple vehicles played an important role. Within the model range of Glas, the Goggomobil occupied a central position and formed the basis for the further growth of the brand in the 1960s, before the company was acquired by BMW in 1967.
