The 1998 Jaguar XK8 belongs to the first generation of the XK series with internal code name X100, produced from 1996 to 2006. With this model, Jaguar introduced a new design language that referenced classic models like the E-Type, combined with modern technology and a completely new platform. In addition, the 1998 Jaguar XK8 marked the introduction of Jaguar's AJ-V8 engines, taking the brand in a new technical direction from its previous six-cylinder models.
The design of the 1998 Jaguar XK8 is characterized by flowing lines, a long hood and a rounded rear end. The model came as a coupe and convertible, with both body styles sharing the same basic construction and wheelbase. The XK8 was positioned as a Gran Turismo, aimed at comfortable long-distance travel, in line with Jaguar's tradition within this segment.
Technically, the 1998 Jaguar XK8 marked an important step for the brand. The introduction of the new V8 engine was accompanied by a modern automatic transmission and a chassis tuned to combine comfort and stability. The model was built at Jaguar's Coventry, United Kingdom, plant and formed the basis for later variants within the XK range, including the more powerful versions that appeared in subsequent years.
Within its model history, the 1998 Jaguar XK8 occupies a distinct place as the successor to the XJS and a precursor to later XK generations. The model remained technically advanced throughout its production years, but retained its original design philosophy. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
