Description

The 1974 Jensen Healey is a British roadster that resulted from the collaboration between Jensen Motors and Donald Healey, known for the earlier Austin-Healey models. The model was produced between 1972 and 1976 and marked a new phase for the marque, focusing on a more modern engineering base and contemporary design. A total of approximately 10,500 examples of the Jensen-Healey were built, giving the model a recognizable place within British sports car production of the 1970s.

The 1974 Jensen Healey was distinguished by the use of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine from Lotus, a then-advanced powerplant with dual overhead camshafts and a 16-valve cylinder head. This engine was combined with a manual transmission and independent suspension all around, which matched the model's sporty positioning. The bodywork was designed with the American market in mind, which was an important market for open sports cars at the time.

In terms of styling, the 1974 Jensen Healey is characterized by clean lines, a long hood and a compact rear end. The model came as a two-seat roadster with a fold-down fabric hood. Technical and detail changes were made during the production period, with later builds, including 1974, benefiting from various advancements within the production process.

The 1974 Jensen Healey represents a period when British manufacturers responded to changing emissions requirements and safety regulations, while retaining the classic roadster concept. This 1974 example fits within that context of further technical refinement and international orientation of the Jensen brand. To get a good idea of the lot, we advise you to come to the viewing day.
