The 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230S belongs to the W111 series, a model series that played an important role within the brand's upper mid-range segment in the 1960s. The 230S was positioned as a more powerful variant within the range and came with a six-cylinder in-line engine. This example was delivered new in the Netherlands and returned to our country after a stay in France in 1996, thus keeping most of its history in Europe.
The Mercedes-Benz 230S is known for its distinctive body shape with subtle tail fins, a design that was meant to convey safety and modernity at the time. The color combination of this vehicle differs from the more common Mercedes-Benz shades of the period. The soft blue of both exterior and interior gives the car a distinctive appearance that fits within the time frame of the 1960s.
This example is equipped with power steering and power brakes, features that contributed to extra comfort at the time. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz 230S has an automatic transmission that was recently overhauled, involving an investment of €6,000. The car has been driven approximately 8,000 kilometers since 1998. During that period regular maintenance was performed and several invoices are present. The car comes with several booklets.
The body shows a nice patina with slight signs of use, including small dents, pits and locally touched up paint. This is consistent with the age and use of the car. The combination of Dutch delivery, documented maintenance and the recent overhaul of the automatic transmission make this Mercedes-Benz 230S a representative example of this 1965 model.
