The 1931 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Dreadnought Special was based on the Rolls-Royce 20/25hp model produced between 1929 and 1936. This model was intended to be a more accessible Rolls-Royce, while retaining the brand's distinctive technical sophistication. Chassis GNS39 left the factory in 1931 as a two-door drophead coupé. During the 1930s, many 20/25 chassis were supplied to independent coachbuilders, resulting in a variety of body styles.
This particular Rolls-Royce 20/25 Dreadnought Special underwent a major transformation in 2014. The original body was replaced with a hand-crafted aluminum racing body from Bespoke Bodyworks. In the process, the chassis was shortened to a wheelbase of 108 inches, which differs from the original configuration. The modified styling was inspired by the Bentley Blower models of the same period, combining a sporty look with classic proportions.
The car features the original 3.7-liter six-cylinder engine, which is supercharged. Specified power is 190 hp with 350 lb/ft of torque. Combined with a modified transmission with overdrive, the powertrain deviates from the original factory specification. The restoration and conversion were completed in 2018. Since then, the car has been driven approximately 1,000 miles. The vehicle bears registration number TL 1663 and engine number Y6J.
The Rolls-Royce 20/25 Dreadnought Special involves a custom-built version where historic basis and later modifications come together in ééone vehicle. This is not an original Bentley Blower, but an individual creation based on a 1931 Rolls-Royce 20/25hp chassis. To get a good idea of the lot, we advise you to come to the viewing day.
