Description

The 1989 BMW 316i belongs to the second generation 3 Series, known internally as the E30. This generation was produced from 1982 to 1994 and is considered an important model within BMW's development in the compact premium segment. Within the range, the BMW 316i formed the entry-level version with gasoline engine and combined the brand's characteristic rear-wheel drive with a compact body. By 1989, the E30 was in the later production phase, in which various technical and detailed further developments had already been made.

The BMW 316i came as a four-door sedan, two-door sedan and Touring, depending on the market. The model was known for its balanced weight distribution and chassis concept with independent suspension all around. Within the 3 Series series, the 316i occupied a position as an accessible model, focusing on efficient mobility within the premium mid-range segment. The E30 generation was produced in large numbers worldwide and contributed to the further international growth of the BMW brand in the 1980s.

Characteristic of the BMW 316i from this period are the timeless, angular design with its characteristic kidney-shaped grille and the compact proportions typical of the E30 Series. The interior was designed with a driver-oriented cockpit, an element that was further developed in this generation. The build quality and construction matched the standards set by BMW for the 3 Series at that time.

This 1989 BMW 316i represents a version from the latter days of E30 production, a model series that has a firm place within BMW's model history. For geïn interested parties, this example offers the opportunity to become acquainted with a BMW 316i from this generation. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
