Description

The 1965 Volkswagen T1 Samba is part of Volkswagen's first generation of Transporter models, introduced in the 1950s. The Volkswagen T1 Samba, also known as the VW bus or microbus, became a recognizable feature of the street scene in the 1960s and was associated with the youth culture of the time, among other things. The model is characterized by its split windshield, V-shaped front and two-tone paint with contrasting piping, elements that made the design of the T1 series distinctive within the segment of light commercial vehicles and passenger buses.

The Samba version occupied a special position within the T1 range. This variant was equipped with additional window sections all around and was known for its large panoramic sliding roof that ran almost the entire length of the roof. This panoramic roof was exclusive to the Samba version and contributed to its popularity in tourist applications and passenger transport. The combination of the generous glass area and the characteristic body shape gave the Volkswagen T1 Samba its own place within the Volkswagen production line.

In the 1960s, the Volkswagen T1 Samba was frequently used as a family car and recreational vehicle. Its practical layout with walk-through interior offered flexibility for various uses. The model was geëxported worldwide and over the decades acquired a firm position among collectors of classic Volkswagens. Due to its recognizable design and specific execution, the Samba is considered one of the most sought-after variants within the T1 series.

This 1965 Volkswagen T1 Samba concerns a specimen with a documented history. The model represents the features that distinguish the Samba version within the first generation Volkswagen Transporter. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
