The Fiat 124 Spider was introduced in 1966 as an open variant of the Fiat 124 and, with continued developments, remained in production until the early 1980s. Pininfarina's design and Fiat's technical basis created a model that became widely known in both Europe and the United States. The 1978 Fiat 124 Spider belongs to the later production years, in which the model was delivered mainly for the American market and accounted for a significant proportion of total production there.
This example comes from America and has a Dutch registration number. About ten years ago a restoration was carried out in which work was done both technically and optically. Technical maintenance included renewing the distribution, water pump, rear brake calipers, hand brake cable and various brake hoses. The car is on time period-correct 14-inch Cromodora wheels, befitting the character of the Fiat 124 Spider from these builds.
The Fiat 124 Spider is known for its independent suspension all around and its evolved chassis, which received several updates during the production years. The combination of Italian body design and relatively accessible technology made the model a popular open sports car at the time.
The roof is currently not foldable. This Fiat 124 Spider can be purchased with a view to use during the summer season. To get a good idea of the lot we recommend you come to the viewing day.
