Description

Introduced in 1972 as the successor to the Fiat 125, the Fiat 132 assumed the position of spacious mid-size sedan within the brand's range. The model was intended for business and private drivers who needed comfort and functionality in a representative sedan. The 1974 Fiat 132 offered here belongs to the first series of this model, which was characterized by an understated design and an emphasis on practicality.

The development of the Fiat 132 made use of existing technical concepts within the Fiat group, building, among other things, on the suspension and engine configurations that had already proven themselves in earlier models. The Fiat 132 was known for its independent suspension all around and its focus on ride comfort, features that were common in the upper-middle class segment at the time. During its production years, the model was modified several times to meet changing market requirements.

The Fiat 132 was delivered in several European markets and also found its way to a wide audience outside Italy. In some countries, the model was assembled locally, contributing to its international spread. In 1981, the Fiat 132 was succeeded by the Fiat Argenta, which technically built on the same platform. As such, the Fiat 132 marks an important stage in the development of Fiat's larger passenger cars in the 1970s.

This 1974 Fiat 132 represents a model series that played a distinct role within the Fiat lineup of its time, combining space, conventional engineering and a businesslike appearance. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
