The Jaguar 340 Mk II 3.4L was introduced in 1967 as a further development of the well-known Mk II series and remained in production for only a short time until 1968. This made the Jaguar 340 Mk II 3.4L rarer than the earlier Mk II versions. The model retained the distinctive compact sedan shape with classic proportions and combined this with technical refinements that Jaguar had made during the 1960s. This 1968 right-hand drive example has now found its way to the Netherlands.
Under the hood of the Jaguar 340 Mk II 3.4L is the 3.4-liter straight-line six-cylinder engine, a power source that has been used within Jaguar for a long time and is known for its smooth character. This one is equipped with overdrive, a feature that was offered with this type and contributes to more relaxed engine speeds at higher speeds. The combination of the 3.4-liter engine and overdrive makes this version a representative example of the last production phase of the 1960s compact Jaguar sedans.
The Jaguar 340 Mk II 3.4L occupied a position of its own within the range, with subtle changes from the Mk II, including a more austere finish and model designation. Its limited production run made the model less common than its predecessor. Partly because of this, the 340 enjoys specific interest among enthusiasts as the conclusion of an important series of sporty Jaguars with classic bodywork and separate chassis construction.
According to reports, this is a neat and honest car that is technically in excellent condition. The car has received maintenance and care, where, according to information from the previous owner, the emphasis was more on the vehicle itself than extensive documentation. Documentation is therefore present to a limited extent. To get a good picture of the lot we advise you to come to the viewing day.
