The 1971 DAF Kalmar 441 is a compact commercial vehicle developed in cooperation between DAF and Sweden's Kalmar Verkstad. The model is based on DAF technology and was designed specifically for use in industrial environments, such as airports and business parks. The DAF Kalmar 441 is characterized by its functional design and the use of the Variomatic transmission system, a distinctive DAF development involving a stepless automatic transmission.
The technology of the DAF Kalmar 441 is largely derived from DAF's passenger car production of the same period, which ensured wide usability and serviceability. The Variomatic system with drive belts played a central role here. This system was used in several DAF models and was known for its compact body. The Kalmar 441 was produced in relatively limited numbers and delivered mainly to professional users, which set the model apart within the range of light commercial vehicles from the 1970s.
In 2025, this DAF Kalmar 441 underwent major maintenance. In the process, the engine was disassembled due to an oil leak, with various parts overhauled and fitted with new gaskets. The cylinder head was replaced due to a crack and then overhauled. In addition, the engine was tuned and the oil pressure transmitter and cylinder were replaced, among other things. Various nuts, washers and gaskets were also renewed.
Further, the front left wheel bolts were replaced, as well as the front right wheel bearing and retaining ring. The front wheel bearing set has been renewed and the Variomatics storage folders have been replaced. The front heater hose, fuel filter, steering rubber, tappet tube and two spark plugs were also replaced. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
