Description

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG is a high-performance version of the G-Class, a model that originated in 1979. Originally developed as an off-road vehicle with a ladder chassis and rigid axles, the G-Class grew over the years to become a fixture in the Mercedes-Benz model range. The Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG represents a special variant within this range, developed by AMG as a sporty interpretation of the robust basic concept.

In 2007, the Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG was in the later stages of the first-generation G-Class (W463), known for its combination of permanent all-wheel drive, tall body shape and distinctive angular design. AMG fitted this model with a specifically tuned powertrain and modified suspension components, linking the traditional off-road concept with performance that was exceptional within the luxury off-road vehicle segment at the time. The G55 AMG was produced in relatively limited numbers compared to regular G-Class versions.

The exterior of the Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG is distinguished by AMG-specific details that give the model its own positioning within the G-Class. At the same time, the characteristic design with flat body panels, visible hinges and the rear-mounted spare tire housing remained, elements that have defined the model since its introduction. The interior concept of the W463 series is characterized by a combination of traditional off-road architecture and luxurious finishes, in keeping with the G55 AMG's positioning within the upper segment.

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG bridged the gap between the original utilitarian character of the G-Class and the increasing demand for powerful, exclusive SUVs. This model marks a period when performance and luxury began to play an increasingly important role within the G-Class lineup, without abandoning the original technical concept. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
