The 1981 DeLorean DMC is a model born from the vision of John DeLorean and was produced by the DeLorean Motor Company in Northern Ireland. The model was presented as a modern sports coupe with a distinctive design by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Distinctive features include stainless steel body panels and wing doors, which contribute to the DeLorean DMC's recognizability. Production ran from 1981 to the end of 1982, with an estimated 9,000 or so examples built.
This example is a DeLorean DMC from its first year of production, a period when the model gained its international fame. The car currently features black rims and a black wrap. According to the owner's statement, this wrap can be easily removed and the exterior underneath is in good condition. The DeLorean DMC was developed at the time with a focus on safety and a distinctive appearance, where the use of unpainted stainless steel was a different choice from other manufacturers.
The car has been stationary for a period of time and has recently undergone maintenance, after which it has been returned to running condition. Over the years, the DeLorean DMC has gained a firm foothold within the automotive world, due in part to its unique construction and limited production numbers. To get a good picture of the lot we advise you to come to the viewing day.
