The Mercedes-Benz 190 Evo 1 is a special version of the W201 series, developed as a homologation model for DTM racing in the late 1980s. The Evolution 1 was produced in a limited edition of 502 units and is distinguished from the regular 190 E models by specific aerodynamic modifications, including widened wheel arches, a modified front and rear spoiler and a rear wing. In addition, the suspension and wheel geometry were modified to optimize track performance. This model uses the 2.5-liter sixteen-valve four-cylinder developed by Cosworth in combination with a manual transmission, giving it a direct link to the sporty development of Mercedes-Benz during this period.
The Mercedes-Benz 190 Evo 1 has documented history, including several invoices from the past, which allow maintenance and ownership to be traced. It has been confirmed from correspondence with Mercedes-Benz that this is a Matching Numbers car, with engine and chassis matching the original factory specifications. The Evolution 1 is recognizable by its unique body modifications and limited production status, making the model clearly distinctive within the W201 series. The 1990 version represents the first Evolution version before it was later succeeded by the Evo 2, with refinements to aerodynamics and engine.
This example of the Mercedes-Benz 190 Evo 1 is in driveable condition. Both the interior and exterior look good. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
