Description

The Trabant New Station, introduced in 1957, represented an iconic phase in automobile construction in the former German Democratic Republic. This model was an extension of the popular Trabant 601, but with a longer body that offered more space for passengers and luggage. Manufactured by VEB Sachsenring, the Trabant became known for its simple construction and use of plastic in the body, which contributed to its low weight and production efficiency. This made the vehicle accessible to a wide audience in the 1960s and 1970s, a period when the demand for affordable and reliable vehicles increased.

Technically, the Trabant New Station was equipped with an air-cooled two-cylinder engine that originated in the earlier models. This engine, characterized by its simplicity and reliability, offered a modest but functional driving experience. The Trabant New Station was designed with an emphasis on functionality and practicality, which made it a popular choice for families and as a work vehicle. The interior was austere, but offered basic amenities that fulfilled the daily needs of the driver and passengers.

Over the years, the Trabant developed into a symbol of East German culture and the social history of the time. The car was seen not only as a means of transportation, but also as a sign of the lifestyle and constraints of the period. The Trabant New Station occupied an important place in the car ownership culture of the 1950s and 1960s, and remains a recognizable icon to this day. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.

The car offered here comes from a private collection. The cars are in a clean condition, but may need some attention on a technical level before they can be driven again.
