Description

The Renault 4 CV, produced between 1947 and 1961, was one of the first successful French compact cars and played a crucial role in the recovery of the French automobile industry after World War II. Its design, characterized by its practical and functional style, made it a popular choice among motorists at the time. The 4 CV, with its rear-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive, offered a unique driving experience and provided good handling. This particular 1954 model, finished in a striking green color, illustrated the aesthetic of its time and was characterized by its iconic suicide-doors.

This Renault 4 CV has been thoroughly restored and has undergone several renewals, including new tires and brakes, as well as a fresh coat of paint and updated upholstery. The headliner and headlights have also been replaced, as have the bumpers and battery. The engine, an 845cc 4-cylinder from the Renault Dauphine (Ventoux), produces 32 hp, which is 11 hp more than the standard 4 CV engine. Weighing only 620 kg, the car remained agile and easy to handle, which contributed to its popularity in the postwar years.

The Renault 4 CV was not only a technical masterpiece of its time, but also a symbol of French culture and everyday life. The vehicle combined functionality with charming design and was often seen as a practical solution for urban mobility. This restored 4 CV offers a fine example of the model's timeless appeal. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
