Beschreibung

The Willys Jeep, produced in 1942, is an iconic vehicle that traces its origins to the early years of World War II. Production of the Willys MA began on June 5, 1941, with a total delivery of 1,553 units. Of this first batch, fifty vehicles were equipped with four-wheel drive. Most of the vehicles were delivered to the British Army and the Soviet Red Army under the terms of the Loan and Lease Act. These early versions laid the foundation for the later-developed Willys MB, which was ordered by the U.S. Army in July 1941.

Based on experience with the Ford Pygmy and Bantam GPV prototypes, the Willys MB was designed with improvements such as a floor-mounted gearbox and lighter construction. These modifications made the vehicle better suited to the demands of war. Production took off, and Willys-Overland could not keep up with initial demand, leading to the enlistment of Ford, which produced the GPW under license. In total, approximately 363,000 Willys MBs and 280,000 Ford GPWs were built, making these vehicles undeniably important during the war.

The Willys Jeep offered in this auction is an original 1942 Jeep accompanied by a matching trailer. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with various accessories such as an axe, shovel and jerry cans, highlighting the versatility of this legendary Jeep. This combination of historical value and practical equipment makes the Willys Jeep an interesting object for collectors and enthusiasts.
