Description

The 1990 Jaguar XJS V12 is a car that combines classic British luxury with serious performance. As the successor to the legendary E-Type, the XJS had big shoes to fill, but Jaguar took a different approach: not a pure sports car, but an elegant grand tourer with an emphasis on comfort and refinement. With its elongated lines, low roofline and distinctive rear end, the design was initially met with mixed reactions, but today the XJS has become an esteemed classic that holds a unique place within Jaguar's history.

This particular example is equipped with the impressive 5.3-liter V12 engine with injection, a powerplant that Jaguar introduced in the 1970s and continued to develop into one of the most refined engines in its class. With an output of around 280 hp and an automatic transmission, this car is ideally suited for relaxed cruising, while at higher speeds it still shows impressive acceleration.

What makes this XJS extra special is that it is an original and unrestored model, which is becoming increasingly rare with this generation. The white leather upholstery with red piping gives the interior an exclusive look that perfectly matches the car's upscale character. This is a car that exudes the atmosphere of classic British luxury, with high-quality materials and a finish that was unmatched in this class at the time. The recorded mileage of 96,902 km is modest for a car known for its durable engineering, if properly maintained.

The XJS was not only praised on public roads for its smooth handling, but also enjoyed an impressive career in motorsport. In the 1980s, Jaguar managed to achieve several successes in touring car championships with the XJS, including victories in the European Touring Car Championship. This underscored that despite its luxurious and comfortable appearance, the XJS was still at its core a true Jaguar: powerful, capable and with a chassis that could handle more than just quiet highway driving.

By its long production run - from 1975 to 1996 - the XJS proved itself to be one of the most successful models in Jaguar's history. Where early models sometimes struggled with technical challenges, the later V12 version like this one was known as one of the most refined versions. Its combination of classic design, smooth twelve-cylinder and distinctive luxury makes it an interesting choice for the enthusiast looking for an elegant, timeless GT.
