Mini 1000 HLE Mayfair 1983

The 1983 Mini 1000 HLE Mayfair is a charming classic with a special Dutch history. Purchased new by a garage owner as a car for his wife, this Mini was resold after 11 years to its second owner, who cherished the car as his first vehicle. During its ownership, the Mini made impressive trips, such as to Monaco, and received a notable upgrade: a stage 3 tuned 1300 engine sourced from an MG Metro, carefully built in collaboration with the specialists at the Blom firm. The upgrades included a modified crankshaft, camshafts, tappets, a light flywheel and an improved intake and exhaust system, giving this Mini considerably more punch than the original 41 hp.

After years of service, the Mini was stored in a dry garage since 2000. In 2023, the car came back to attention and was fully addressed to earn back its place on the road. Extensive maintenance was performed, including a renewed brake system, clutch cylinder replacement, spark plugs, ignition coil, oil and filters, and a cleaned carburetor. In addition, new tires, knuckleballs, a gasoline filter and a battery were installed. With a valid MOT until July 2026, this Mini is again fully roadworthy and ready for new adventures.

The HLE Mayfair version has always been one of the more luxurious variants of the Mini, but this particular car stands out for its character and unique engine upgrades. The driving pleasure is enhanced by its powerful performance and mesmerizing engine sound above 3,000 rpm, putting a smile on the face of any driver.
