Description

Thanks to its age, this 1987 Opel Ascona can be driven in the quarter rate for only €120 per year and will be tax-free in three years. The car was imported from Germany in 2015.

The special thing about this Ascona is of course the engine. The car was originally delivered with a standard 1.6N engine with a 4-speed gearbox. In the early 2020s an "Ellesmere V6" engine was installed. In the summer of 2020, it was replaced by a 3.0 V6 24-valve engine from a Saab 9000, a B308I which is similar to the X30XE from an Opel Omega. The gearbox is a 5-speed F20 C342, built into the housing of the standard F16 gearbox. The engine had a mileage of 180,000 km when installed. The engine is registered on the license plate as 155 kW (211 hp), 6 cylinder and 2962 cc. The car has a two-year MOT, valid until 22-04-2026. As far as we know, this is one of three 3.0 V6s on the license plate.

The current mileage is 17,000 (on a 5-digit counter). It has been driven 3,000 miles in the past two years. When the engine was rebuilt, a counter box from a Kadett GSi was installed, which at the time stood at 005xx kilometers. The bodywork has now covered 160,000 kilometers.

The chassis has also been addressed. The car has been fitted with a lowering kit. There are new shock absorbers from Monroe in the front and new Bilstein B6 Nurburgring Edition dampers from a Kadett GSi in the rear. The brakes all around are disc brakes from the Kadett GSi. The rear axle is also from the Kadett GSi, which is stronger and thus has less torsion. The front brakes are new. The wheels are 15x7 inches with Toyo T1R semi-slicks in the front and Nankang street tires in the rear. Front and rear custom strut bridges have been fitted for more rigidity.

The interior has been modified with a set of nice Recaro seats from a Lancia Delta HPE, which have been perfectly fitted. The car was fitted with a retro look Bluetooth radio and a factory sunroof. The left rear screen had rust damage and has been welded and repainted. This unique Opel Ascona C 3.0 V6 combines classic style with modern upgrades, making it a special car to own and drive. To get a good idea of the lot we recommend you come to the viewing day.
