Description

In 1967, the second generation Typ 2 was introduced, the Panorama bus. This model had large side windows, and an arched windshield without a center pillar. Apart from external changes, the new one also had some engine improvements. With 1.6 L and 48 DIN hp (35 kW), the engine's power was increased. Several versions of the T2 were also made. The pre-1971 models were called T2a. A transitional model was produced in 1972 and was given the model name T2a/b. A front of the a and rear of the b model are main features. Typ 2’s from between 1972 and the early 1980s have the name T2b. The term T2c refers to the buses with raised roofs built in the early ’90s specifically for American market vendors. The T2 was built first in Germany, then in Mexico and then in Brazilië . Starting with the 2006 model year, a liquid-cooled engine was installed (a 1.4-liter with 78 hp), ending the era of the air-cooled boxer engine. On December 20, 2013, the last T2 was built; the type no longer met Brazilian safety requirements. The number of vehicles produced was around 80,000.
