Description

The car offered here is from the collection of BP Classics. The following information was made available by the seller.

The Volvo 850 was the car that significantly improved Volvo's image in the 1990s. Before the era of the 850, Volvo was mainly associated with boring drivers and cars with the aerodynamics of a bus shelter. Therefore, Volvo decided to design a modern and sporty car that would change this image. Despite its square design, the car had good aerodynamics. Moreover, it was the first Volvo with front-wheel drive and the first car with four airbags. Volvo was determined to build a successful model, so a lot of money was invested in the design.

The sedan and station wagon produced between 1991 and 1997 became a popular youngtimer, thanks in part to its timeless design and high reliability. Under the hood there was always a five-cylinder engine, which gave the 850 a very characteristic sound, better known among enthusiasts as "The Roffel." To emphasize its sporty character, Volvo decided to participate in the British Touring Car Championship. It was notable that Volvo even used a station wagon on the circuit!

In 1995, according to many, the highlight of the 850 range was presented, the Volvo 850 T5-R. The top model, available only in flag yellow, jet black and dark green, was based on the T5 and co-developed by Porsche. The German sports car manufacturer supported the Swedes technically, but also interfered with the interior, resulting in, among other things, the chic leather and Alcantara combination. With modifications to the electronics and turbocharger, the 2.3-liter engine now produced 240 horsepower. This resulted in a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. Especially in black or green, the T5-R is a real wolf in sheep's clothing because of its modest appearance in a family package.

In 1996 the 850R was its successor, and in 1997-1998 the V70R. About this car SN-843-B. The best 850R in manual sedan we have seen to date! This car shows all the loving work the previous owner put into it. The car is so beautiful inside, and all 5 original Volan wheels look like new. The engine has been fully upgraded and a test sheet shows that it really has 331 horsepower on its wheels. The odometer shows 211,800 miles, but when we connected the car to an OBD computer, we read that the actual mileage is 214,000 miles. So possibly, like many of these cars, they fixed the odometer. We will deliver the car with an additional original newly painted 850R rear spoiler, normal headlights and an original air filter box, for those who want everything original. The car has new headlights and new turn signals. Come see this car on viewing day and you will be impressed with this car! This car comes with new MOT. To get a good picture of the lot we recommend you come to the viewing day.
