The car offered here is from the collection of BP Classics. The following information has been made available by the seller.
This UK-built two-door Ford Escort MKI is an original LHD car and has been restored and painted in Allan Mann colors in Sweden for many years. In recent years we have used the car in several classic events, where it did really well with the original 1300GT engine.
During the corona period we replaced the engine with a much faster, prepared 1600 CC engine with special camshaft. Unfortunately, the car was hardly used and stored after that engine change. The original 1300GT engine was also well prepared and we have it in stock. If the new owner wants to swap the engine back to the original, we can agree on an exchange.
With this Escort, we, Erwin Docter (Dutch Rally Champion in the 1980s) and I, used the car twice in the famous Winter Trials of 2017 and 2018, both of which we finished well. In the first Winter Trial there was damage to the front and rear, which was then repaired. After we replaced the engine in 2020, the seats were returned to normal, and the car has been in storage ever since.
It may need some upgrades, and there are some minor rust spots, but all in all we think this is a nice MKI, 51 years old, and with some minor work it can give you a lot of pleasure. This car was featured in the Dutch magazine "Playboy" in an article about the Wintertrial!
To get a good idea of the lot we recommend you come to the viewing day.
