Edsel Bermuda 1958

The Edsel Bermuda had a distinctive design with striking, flowing lines and chrome accents that attracted attention. The front featured the typical "horizontal" grille that was characteristic of Edsel cars, along with distinctive trim strips and headlights that were integrated into the front fenders. The station wagon configuration provided a spacious interior and a large rear cargo area, making it a practical choice for families and adventure travel enthusiasts. This is a rare Edsel Bermuda that was only available in the 1958 introduction year. Edsel Bryant Ford, son of Henry Ford and president of Ford Motor Company founded the Edsel brand. The Bermuda possessed the highest possible level of equipment within the Edsel brand and thus was equipped with truly all options. In addition to the, for the time, luxurious interior, the exterior of the car featured “Woody” panels and frames, the hallmark for station wagon models produced by Ford and Mercury. The Bermuda came in 6 or 9-seat configuration. This is a 6-seater of which only 1,456 were made. The 58’er Edsels had unique boomerang-shaped taillights. However, the shape of the taillights caused problems when used as turn signals. From a distance, the left taillight looked like a right-pointing arrow and vice versa. The newer models that came after the Bermuda no longer had these taillights. All station wagon’s were equipped with the Edsel Ramger 361cu (5.9) V8 engine block. This example is equipped with the rare “Teletouch” automatic transmission. The automatic is then operated through buttons placed in the steering wheel hub. The car has been restored and technically overhauled in the past and is in good condition. The paintwork is neat and the fits of the sheet metal are good.
