The 1983 Volkswagen Golf GTI is the iconic sporty flagship model of the practical Golf, which launched the popular hot hatch category and laid the foundation for the legendary series of Golf GTI generations. The 1983 Golf I GTI is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder fuel-injected engine. This engine produces about 112 horsepower, which was considerable for a compact car at the time. With that, GTI models were known for their sporty performance and agility. With its lightweight construction and powerful engine, the 1983 Golf I GTI offers a lively and enjoyable driving experience. This example has been restored by several enthusiasts over the years, including a detailed rebuild of the engine bay by the last and current owner. This was done with great attention to detail, for example by obtaining the original VW clamps and bolts in addition to using only OEM VW parts. The interior has also been renewed to original specification. A large folder full of invoices, documentation and work attests to this. The result is a beautifully restored Golf I GTI that drives wonderfully and would not look out of place in any collection.
