Beschrijving

At the beginning of the last century, Lucien Rosengart was a French factory owner and engineer who was an important financier and producer of car parts for Peugeot and Citroën, among others. After the production of the cycle cars that were popular at the time, Lucien decided to produce Austin Sevens under license under his own name. This successful LR2 remained in production while the further developed successor LR4 was also brought onto the market in 1931. Despite the industrial nature of the production, the production number was not high. After the Second World War, the success of the LR2 and LR4 was no longer equaled, after which the brand closed its doors in 1955. The LR4N2 Woody offered here is probably a one-off, a unique example. Equipped with a wooden station wagon structure but without a rear seat, this practical example is suitable for freight transport. The large amount of wood present is durably varnished and in good condition. The paint is starting to show signs of age in some spots. Also special are the period-correct Michelin tires, which are still in good condition. The Rosengart drives and brakes well, and can therefore be driven under its own power to, for example, classic car exhibitions and events. The car has recently stood still for a while, so it is advisable to check the technology. There is a certificate from the German Rosengart Museum, proving its origin. When imported in 1991, the RDW mistakenly registered the year of manufacture as 1931. The actual year of construction of 1939 has been verified by the Rosengart Museum. To get a good idea of the lot, we advise you to come to the viewing day.
