Volkswagen Golf Country Synchro 1990

The 1990 Volkswagen Golf Country Synchro is a special variant of the popular Volkswagen Golf series. The Golf Country is a small, four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle based on the second generation Volkswagen Golf. The vehicle was developed in cooperation with the Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch.

The Golf Country has a raised suspension to provide more ground clearance, making it suitable for off-road driving.
Striking exterior features were the plastic fender extensions, steel bumpers, and the spare tire mounted on the rear door.

The Golf Country Synchro was equipped with Volkswagen's Syncro system, which meant that it had permanent all-wheel drive. This system provided better traction and stability, especially on uneven terrain. Propulsion was provided by a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with four cylinders. The interior of the Golf Country was spacious and comfortable, with room for five occupants.

The Volkswagen Golf Country was not a mass production model, and only a limited number were produced, making the vehicle quite rare today. The car belongs to an enthusiast, who restored the car with an eye for detail between 2012 and 2021. For example, it has been completely repainted in the original color Montana green.
