The Riva Tritone is produced by the Italian company Riva, founded by Pietro Riva in 1842. Known for its handcrafted wooden boats, Riva has a long history in the nautical world. The Riva Tritone was introduced in the early 1950s. This period marks an important era in the history of pleasure boating, with luxury and performance becoming increasingly important.

The Tritone is known for its classic, streamlined design. The hull is made of high-quality mahogany, finished with a glossy varnish that gives it a distinctive look. The Tritone offered here is in very clean condition. The boat was produced in 1960 and first registered in 1962. Both outside and inside it looks well taken care of. In 1993/1994 the Riva was extensively restored by Centro Nautico Salo on Lake Garda, with approximately 45 million Lire worth of work carried out. Original Riva parts and woodwork were used as much as possible. In 1999, the underwater hull of the Riva was reinforced by Cantieri Marai Sirmione (Lake Garda) and a new bottom was installed, worth 9,667,000 Lire. In 2001, Yacht Zentrum Mittelrhein in Remagen (DE) installed two new engines of the Mercruiser GM 5.7L V8 type, which together deliver 620 hp. In 2015-2017 the Riva was overhauled again, this time by Cantieri Navali Classici in Capolago (Switzerland) and Cantieri Ernesto Riva in Laglio (IT). The various invoices for the restoration work on, among other things, the woodwork amounted to a total of more than two hundred thousand euros. The Riva has been registered in the Netherlands since 2022.

Despite its classic design, this Riva Tritone is a powerful boat. It features 2 Mercruiser GM V8 5.7 350 Magnum engines that provide this Riva with impressive speeds and smooth cruising characteristics. This makes it not only pleasing to the eye, but also a pleasure to sail.

The Riva Tritone became popular among celebrities and the wealthy, becoming a symbol of luxury and status. It represents the glamour of Italian life in the 1950s and 1960s. Celebrities and kings such as Nassar of Egypt and Prince Rainier of Monaco are some examples of Tritone owners. Also 007 is captain of the Tritone in a famous advertisement for a major beer brand.

It is a model which was produced in limited numbers. By all appearances, only 257 of them have been produced, which adds to their exclusivity and collector's value. This Tritone concerns number 122.
