Beschrijving

The 1982 BMW 323i E21 Coupé in rally trim represents a fascinating combination of BMW's solid engineering and the modifications required for competitive rallying. The E21 323i, originally designed as a sporty, compact executive car, was transformed in this configuration into a capable and performance-oriented rally car.

The 323i's standard 2.3-liter six-cylinder in-line engine was already powerful, but for rally purposes, this engine would often be further tuned to provide more power and faster response. These modifications could include improving the air intake, exhaust system, fuel injection and optimizing the engine tuning for better performance under demanding conditions.

With regard to the exterior, in rally trim, the 323i E21 would undergo various modifications for improved performance and durability. This usually included adding a roll cage for safety, rally-specific wheels and tires for better traction, and possibly modified body panels or added aerodynamic elements such as spoilers to increase stability.

The interior of a rally car differs significantly from that of a street car. It would be stripped of any unnecessary weight adding elements to improve performance. Rally cars also have racing seats, harnesses, and other specialized equipment needed for competitive rallying.

With its gray paint, distinctive decals, and modifications, this is an impressive, street-legal rally-equipped 323.
