The Reliant Motor Company was a British car manufacturer that manufactured niche cars such as microcars, three-wheelers and sports cars from 1935 to 2002. Reliant specialized in bodies made of fibreglass (fiberglass), which was easier to produce and kept weight down. The Scimitar GTE was created as a sporty two-door station wagon, better known by the term "shooting brake. The GTE proved to be a great success and was produced in several variants from 1968 to 1986. This example is a 1978 GTE SE6A, recognizable by the orange reflectors on the rear fenders and a modified front bumper. The SE6A features the 3.0L Ford Essex V6, which produced significantly more torque at low revs compared to the Cologne V6 used in the SE6B. Also, the Essex's Weber carburetors were much more reliable than the Cologne's Solex carburetors, so many owners swapped the carburetors. There were 3877 SE6As produced. This example is finished in bright green paint with a brown/beige interior and features the optional automatic transmission. The good condition underwrites the low mileage of 51100 miles. This is an almost completed project car, whose brake system is currently non-functional. Several parts are included. To get a good idea of the lot we recommend you come to the viewing day.
