Beschrijving

The MG TD entered the market in 1950 and was the successor to the MG TC. The TD's chassis and bodywork were broadly similar to those of the TC. However, the TD had rack-and-pinion steering, coil springs (instead of leaf springs) and independent front suspension. The fenders were shaped differently because the TC's large 19-inch wire wheels had given way to 15-inch wheels. Starting in 1950, a Mk II version also came on the market and was built alongside the Mk I. The Mk II featured a more powerful engine and a "power bulge" on the right engine cover. The MG TD was built until 1953 and succeeded by the MG TF. This TD rolled out of the MG factory at Abingdon-on Thames on February 9, 1950. Delivery in the Netherlands took place on March 20, 1950. The buyer and first owner was Dr. Jacob van Willigen of Amsterdam. The delivery took place through the Amsterdam MG dealer Dirk van der Mark. This car has been family owned since 2015 and passed within the family several times. In 2016, the car underwent a restoration. The blue "Clipper Blue" paint on the car looks neat, as does the interior. Included with the car are several more boxes of parts, a workshop manual, Driver's Manual, Parts Manuals and several other MG TD books. The original cloth registration certificate is also still present from this car. To get a good idea of the lot we advise you to come to the viewing day.
